Drums Percussion Programming Education

Wayne is a strong advocate for music education, giving clinics, teaching camps, and consulting for various school music programs. As a music education major at East Carolina University, he studied with Mark Ford (now the Director of Percussion Studies at University of North Texas), Harold Jones, Carroll Dashiell (Dee Dee Bridgewater, Maceo Parker, Bobby Watson, Ray Charles), and William Wiedrich (now Director of Orchestral Studies at University of South Florida).

“My goal as an educator is to mix a solid fundamental curriculum with real-world expectation and experience to prepare students who would like to play casually, study music in college, or play professionally.” Some notable former private students include principal percussionist of the St. Louis Symphony, Will James, and Los Angeles Percussion Quartet member, Matt Cook.

Wayne is currently serving as the Percussion Coordinator at George Walton Academy, a private school in Monroe, GA with an award-winning band program. Responsibilities include: private lessons, arranging for marching band and percussion ensemble, instructing the marching percussion, coordinating staff for marching band, marching band sound design, coaching concert ensembles, and managing logistics and gear.

Wayne has written and arranged full percussion scores, battery scores, front ensemble scores, wind scores, and string ensembles for middle school, high school, and college bands.
